social media - clicks and clients

Social responsibility is the idea that individuals and organizations must take an initiative for actions that will benefit society wholistically. In the age of algorithms and indifference, it is important to make social responsibility a priority. While every situation is different, there are many universal ways to achieve this goal. Here are just a few ways that you can make a difference in your digital community.

Accuracy of Content

This could mean many things. One way you could deliver accuracy is through data. It is very important to make sure your data is up to date. Social media is changing constantly, so relevancy matters. You could be providing a disservice to your audience by relaying incorrect or invaluable content. Remember, the higher the research quality the better your results will be.

Don’t Sensationalize

It is very common nowadays to read an exciting headline only to find the article to be less than expected. While this may seem minor, it is actually a form of deceit. Your audience is counting on you to deliver valuable information. By only dedicating effort into clicks, you are declining customer loyalty. Headlines are important; I even wrote an article about eye-catching headlines. But this can be misconstrued very easily. As a member of your digital social community, it is your job to deliver the very best insight possible. Don’t ruin this relationship for a couple of random clicks.

Take Action

That being said, don’t tolerate any sensationalization of facts from others. This undermines your effort of social responsibility. This action can be banning incorrect information from further circulation. It often takes the form of banning hate speech. This is never an okay thing to support. By taking action to ban this sort of language, you send a message of safety and reliability. Don’t be afraid to take action and defend the rights of others.

Your success is your own and you don’t need to forge information for people to know it. By faking likes, pictures, and other content, you let your audience know that they cannot trust you or your opinion. Success is dependent on real numbers and data. Don’t fake testimonies and pictures just for a little bit more promotion. The value of your product or your service can be seen by many without fake and excessive promotion. Use your real data and your real insight. It will lead to better, more sustainable results in the long-run.
